Groin Problem Becoming a Pain for Vancouver

Trevor LindenJust a couple days ago, the Canucks were without Trevor Linden due to a pulled groin. Now, he will be joined by four other players, who happen to have the same problem.

Byron Ritchie, Rick Rypien, Brendan Morrison and Willie Mitchell are all out with the same nagging injury. All four won’t play tonight against the Flames.

Why all of these similar sufferings happening at the same time?

A large part has to do with the shortening of training camp, as veterans are put into game situations way sooner then they previously were. When it comes to prospects, the training camp they attended earlier allowed them to be in better shape.

Maybe teams, and leagues, should rethink this in order to prevent frustrating groin pulls during the preseason.

It’s a drag not to have the option in testing out your assets during exhibition. Think about it.
