Excuses, Excuses

Donovan McNabbPhiladelphia Eagles’ pivot Donovan McNabb said in an interview with HBO this week that, in his opinion, black quarterbacks face more scrutiny and are under more pressure to succeed than white quarterbacks, because “black guys aren’t supposed to play that position.”

“I’ll throw for 300 yards, we’ll win, and they still point out my mistakes.”

Welcome to professional sports, McNabb.

It’s not that he’s black, it’s that he plays in Philadelphia, which is home to the “philly faithful“, some of the worst fans in North America; people who apparently aren’t afraid to boo the number two pick in the NFL draft.

Even Charles Barkley said that those fans are the reason he left the City of Brotherly Love early in his career.

Play a perfect game, demand a trade, or just suck it up, but don’t blame it on your skin colour.
