Brian Brohm to Skip Senior Bowl

Brian Brohm

About a month after stating he’d do whatever the scouts asked of him, including participating in the senior bowl, Brohm has decided to skip out on the competition.

During bowl season, Brian was a guest on the NFL Network’s “College Football Today“. When asked about his preparations for the draft he said he’d be playing in the senior bowl and running through all the drills they’d ask him to complete.

The Senior Bowl will be played on the NFL Network and with the two top QB’s in the draft pulling out I’m sure the network is real happy.

This is potentially a good move for the often injured Brohm. Playing in the game won’t bring up his draft stock any higher than it already is and another injury would scare off some teams at the top of the draft.

With Matt Ryan also skipping out, he wouldn’t have been able to showcase his skills against those of Ryan’s and move ahead of him in the minds of scouts.

Nevertheless, this opens the door for Andre Woodson and Colt Brennan to pull ahead of Brohm. He might not have made any money by playing in this game, but by pulling out of it he may have lost some. If scouts fall head over heels for Woodson and Brennan, Brohm could slide into the latter part of the first round or even the early second.

However, there are several teams who could take a quarterback early in the draft so there may be room for four qb’s to be taken in the first.

I just wish everyone invited would practice and play in the senior bowl so we can get an idea of how they play out of their element.
